It's important to note that one of the most bloodthirsty movies in recent memory was directed by a woman — Julie Taymour. Even more surprising is that she also directed _The Lion King _ musical!

In this imaginative and brilliant adaptation of Shakespeare's Titus Andronicus it's hard to single out a particular act of violence from so many, but the jamming of twigs into Lavinia's bloody stumps where her hands used to be certainly takes the cake. Imagine what it would feel like when the wind blew? Ack.
