This is essentially the nightmare most men have before becoming fathers for the first time. Great convulsing from John Hurt and genuine-seeming reactions from the cast really sell the famous chest-bursting scene. The snot-covered sock puppet that emerges ruins the magic a bit but the idea of a parasite incubating in your stomach only to forcibly escape through your ribcage will bother you a lot longer than the images.
