The Damned United & A Handful Of Non-Shit Sports Films
Taylor Parkes , March 24th, 2009 11:25

The Damned United is a lightweight version of David Peace's dark character study of football manager Brian Clough. Taylor Parkes picks apart this flawed football flick. Plus Jeremy Allen compiles a gallery of 10 sports films that weren't shit.

The Last Boy Scout

An underrated Bruce Willis action feature from director Tony Scott, who was in good practise for his next film, Quentin Tarantino's True Romance. Essentially a buddy movie involving Bruce's character Joe Hallenbeck, a washed up private detective with a 100-a-day habit, and Damon Wayans as Jimmy Dix, a professional American football star kicked out of the game for taking banned substances, The Last Boy Scout possesses a savagely funny script hung on a plot as thin as Willis' hair, and plenty of ultra-violence.
