Live album also in the works for Maryland instrumentalists

Ace Maryland electro outfit Trans Am are to soundtrack a new "fantasy, sci-fi, horror film with a Romeo and Juliet-type relationship twist", it has emerged today.

The band told The Quietus: "New material is in the works but we don't have any definitive release time line yet. Obviously, [the soundtrack] is perfect for us.

"We're also listening to some live concerts from last year that sound pretty good. So a live album should be in the works soon."

They suggested the cost of bringing band members together for recording sessions was proving an obstacle in drafting new material: "We record whenever we get a chance, but it costs about $1,500 minimum just to get us in the same town. We also work via virtual recording sessions, but there is a attention deficit issue there, with resultant decreased productivity.

"Being nearly broke and having a stiff price tag hanging over the live sessions (international return flights) makes us more productive. We've recorded in Pescara, IT and San Francisco so far this year."
