Speaking to The Quietus today Mike Skinner has revealed that he wants to get futuristic on his fifth and final album, utilising synthesizers and science fiction themes.

Mike confirmed that he wanted to go out with a big bang: "It is going to be quite futuristic, and Sci-Fi. I love the way that Sci-Fi always questions society.

"I want to use cold, hard synthesizers; I’m definitely going down a Kraftwerk route."

(Presumably Skinner will have the sense not to 'do a Coldplay' and accidentally copy 'Neon Lights' thus having to pay loads of money to the austere German four piece. And if he does, he can always write something thought provoking about tea bags on the back of his hand in felt tipped pen.)

The as yet untitled album is due to be that last release under ‘The Streets’ moniker, although Mike confirmed that he won't be retiring from music altogether, saying: "I cant really do anything else. It’s either this or back to Burger King."

Any further collaborations with Muse seem to be out of the question though – When asked if he would like to team up again with Matt Bellamy and Co he said he would but only for a few pints: "We will be collaborating again - we’ll be collaborating in the bars.

"It [the song with Muse] started to feel a bit cynical after a while, so I’m ducking out of it."

The Streets UK tour kicks off at the Glasgow Barrowlands on October 4th.
