Wolfmother Split. Much Rejoicing...

...frontman to carry on. Much woe. Hoary Australian Led Zep tribute act Wolfmother have announced that they're to split up. Sort of.

There was a bit of a do after the rockers played at the Splendour In The Grass festival in Byron Bay, Australia at the weekend. It was thought at the time that the problems stemmed from tensions between singer Andrew Stockdale and the other two eejits.

Universal Music Australia have now issed a statement saying that bassist Chris Ross quit "due to irreconcilable personal and musical differences", to be swiftly followed by drummer Myles Heskett.

"Wolfmother toured the world virtually non-stop through 2006 and early 2007 on the back of their acclaimed self titled debut album," the statement read. "Longstanding frictions within the group then led them to take an extended break during the second half of 2007 to consider their future."

Stockdale will apparently carry on making music under the Wolfmother moniker.

"They simply ask all Wolfmother fans to please understand that in spite of their best efforts over a long period of time, they just could not find a harmonious way to work together and that has led to the decisions announced today."
