This weekend is one of our favourites of the year because it means we get to drive to Birmingham in the old charrabang and attend the UK's best alternative, noise and metal festival Supersonic. Quietus Editor John Doran was so excited that he made a forward party and headed over to the UK's second city a few days early to interview Jenny and Lisa who run Capsule Records and Supersonic. Listen to the interview about black metal faux pas, lemon drizzle cake, Genesis P-Orridge, terrorist threats and also listen to tracks by Harvey Milk, Dalek, Beestung Lips and Earth. And while you're having your lugholes basted, check out our gallery of photographs from previous years.
The stellar line up includes Battles, a recently reformed Harmonia, Gravetemple featuring Julian Cope, Wooden Sjhips, Efterklang, Noxagt, Oxbow, Thrones and Max Tundra. Among the DJs is some chap called the Attrociatator, who bears more than a passing resemblance to Quietus editor John Doran.
